Mr. What

An inspirational drama about Mattiesko Wuopio, a man who has spent twenty-two years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Upon apprehension of the real criminal, Mattiesko is released, only to face the stigma of jail time as he re-enters society in tiny Tecumseh, Michigan. He seeks redemption through his ailing father, who is beset with Alzheimer’s disease, along with an endearing little boy and a stray dog. The story reveals that miracles are never far away, especially when one is needed.

  • "Mr. What" is a terrific movie named for the question Mattiesko Wuopio gets every time he says his name: "What!?" He always replies, "Exactly!" Mr. What spent the last 22 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, yet lives with the stigma of jail time as he re-enters society in tiny Tecumseh, Michigan. He rents a home once he's out of jail, and becomes close to the homeowner's son Herman, called "Bo." Though Bo's mother doesn't trust Mr. What, he is there to help Bo, his sister Heather, and his mom, too. Mr. What is also loyal to his father, who has Alzheimer's disease and is about to be placed in a nursing home. Mr. What writes and sings a song for his father; a miracle occurs when his father recovers for a few moments and remembers his son.

    This movie reveals that miracles are never far away, especially when one is needed. Because of a blessing received by Mr. What, those around him with needs have them taken care of in miraculous ways. Alan Maki gives an inspiring performance as Mr. What.
